The Victoria Reservoir with, at the far end of the valley, its dam. The Victoria Dam was completed in April 1985 to stem the Mahaweli, Sri Lanka’s longest river. Beyond the dam is the Rantembe Reserve. Shot from Digana, east of Kandy, for my piece The Temple of War: the Road to Andaulpotha and the Other Nagadeepa, which appeared in the April 2016 issue of Explore Sri Lanka magazine.
