Romantic Splash

The impromptu “river bath” is a major feature in most Sri Lankan holidays and road trips; and in the photo, a couple take a dip at the base of Bambarakanda (Bumblebee Hill) Falls, close to Kalupahana, in the southern Central Highlands. Sri Lanka’s tallest waterfall at 263m, Bambarakanda is fed by the Kuda Oya which originates in the heights of the Horton Plains, but increasing periods of dry weather often reduce the waterfall to a trickle. Shot on assignment for Serendib magazine. My photo story, ‘Discovering Belihuloya‘, ran in the November 2017 issue.
